New refurb for well deserved staff at Foyle Search and Rescue
Now in its 25th year, Foyle Search and Rescue (FSR) is a volunteer led charity that was set up by local people in response to the alarmingly high number of drownings in the River Foyle and has adopted the role of preventing suicide and supporting families in the City. Being able to carry out this vital service has not been easy for the charity with most of its income being self funded through the goodwill of the local community. This was made even harder when FSR undertook a major extension of its Prehen base in order to improve the service provided.
Given the enormity of the task ahead for FSR, Caroline Higgins, Managing Director of Poplar design, was keen to help out in whatever way she could. “Poplar Design has been a supporter of FSR for a number of years now and chose it due to the great work they do.” That said, the team at Poplar Design set about to try and make life a bit more comfortable for the volunteers by donating a free kitchen and appliances fit out as part of the refurbishment.
Caroline explains; “It was really the only thing I could do as a local business person, and is very little when compared to the sacrifice the volunteers make trying to keep people safe around our rivers. “FSR is an amazing charity providing a great service and we are delighted to continue our support in whatever we can do.”
